EWE Baskets Oldenburg visit L.I.T.

Logistics service provider welcomes Managing Director Hermann Schüller and head coach Pedro Calles of the professional basketball team

Top athletes speak at leading logistics service provider: We welcomed the Managing Director of EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Hermann Schüller, and their Head Coach Pedro Calles at our management meeting on Thursday. Since last season, we at the L.I.T. Group have been the exclusive partner of the professional basketball team. In terms of content, the aim was to show how the Baskets have transformed their management culture and to what extent this process can be transferred to the management level in companies. The two keynote speeches by the EWE Baskets managing director and head coach were followed by a discussion round with around 25 participants from the L.I.T. Group.

“It is particularly exciting for us to look beyond the horizon on such occasions and see how other successful companies define and live leadership and management culture”, says Simeon Breuer, Managing Director of L.I.T. Speditions GmbH and member of the Executive Board of L.I.T. AG. A total of around 25 people from the Brake site took part in the event – including members of the Executive Board, managing directors and department and project managers. The event was realised as part of L.I.T.’s exclusive partnership with the Bundesliga basketball team.

Hermann Schüller, Managing Partner of EWE Baskets, spoke on the topic of “value-orientated team culture”. In his presentation, he spoke about how the club’s management culture has changed in recent years. The values that are important for the EWE Baskets team and company were discussed: “trust”, “positive energy” and “respect” serve as the foundation for successful collaboration, according to Schüller. In this context, it is important that every manager deals with each person individually and takes their values into account. The Managing Director emphasises: “Our motto is: ‘Teams in companies don’t work well if the ME comes before the WE’. We act accordingly.”

Head coach Pedro Calles reported on leadership culture in elite sport. He particularly emphasised the balance between frequency and intensity as a success factor. He emphasised that long-term and sustainable success can only be achieved if the team’s performance also remains high over a longer period of time. This could also be applied to companies that want to remain on the market in the long term.

After the discussion round, a final get-together was on the agenda, where we were able to discuss one or two match scenes from the past season with our guests.
