At the headquarters in Brake and via video conference, the new apprentices were welcomed by the Board of Directors and received into the L.I.T. Gruppe.
With 37 apprentices, the L.I.T. Gruppe has started the new training year with more career starters than ever before. The Board of Directors of the North German logistics specialist welcomed nineteen prospective freight forwarding and logistics services clerks, ten warehouse logistics specialists, three professional drivers, four office management clerks, and one IT specialist for application development today on their first day of training. For the first time, the Holzminden site is training office management clerks. The same applies to the Germersheim site, where prospective freight forwarding and logistics services clerks will also be trained in the future. Rinteln is now hiring prospective warehouse logistics specialists.
"Despite the difficult application and recruitment process during the pandemic, we have managed to exceed the number of career starters from previous years," says Astrid Jonat, Head of Training at L.I.T. AG. In addition to the cancellation of training fairs and school visits, the company also had to forgo the usual large selection rounds in Brake and Bremen. Instead, job interviews were conducted via video call at some locations. Consequently, the selection process took longer than in previous years. "Nevertheless, we were able to recruit promising talent in time," Jonat continues. L.I.T. is particularly pleased that more and more women want to learn the professions of professional driver and warehouse logistics specialist. Two apprentices joined L.I.T. through a six to ten-month introductory qualification program.
Today's first working day for the young talents was partially organized by their colleagues from the third year of training. After the welcome by L.I.T. CEO Fokke Fels as well as board members Simeon Breuer, Julian Lachnitt, and Ingo Schreiber at the headquarters in Brake, to which the apprentices from the other locations were connected, and an introduction to the COVID-19 measures to be observed, the newcomers got to know the corporate group, the individual departments, their processes, and finally each other. Together, they toured the warehouse, inspected the company's own apprentice truck, and had lunch together.

Already on the second day, the career starters have training on the use of IT systems, a seminar on the topic of quality management, information and processes regarding the training, as well as telephone training on the program. On the third day, the apprentices will be welcomed by their mentors, who will closely supervise them over the coming two months, and taken to their new workplace.
Training as a vehicle for acquiring skilled workers is becoming increasingly relevant in view of the industry-wide shortage of personnel, says Jonat. "That is why we are very keen to offer young people not only a professional working environment in which they can grow, but also a harmonious togetherness away from everyday work." Thus, numerous sports offers and events such as joint barbecues or "Kohlfahrten" are also part of the L.I.T. training plan. For this commitment to junior staff training, the IHK Oldenburg awarded the L.I.T. Gruppe the quality seal "TOP Ausbildungsbetrieb".
