With 29 newly hired junior staff, L.I.T. GRUPPE is defying the industry-wide negative trend of falling apprentice numbers and is also maintaining the internal record set last year. 17 prospective freight forwarding and logistics services clerks, six warehouse logistics specialists, three professional drivers, one office management clerk, and one application development IT specialist and one system integration IT specialist each are starting their training with the logistics specialist today. To protect everyone's health, L.I.T. has taken special precautions in this Corona year.
INTRODUCTORY EVENT HELD DIRECTLY AT THE TRAINING LOCATIONS THIS YEAR

This confirms our high quality as a training company and makes us very proud,” says Astrid Jonat, Head of Training at L.I.T. AG. Thanks to early selection interviews and contract signings, the logistics company's recruitment for this year was almost complete before the peak phase of the pandemic began in Germany. It is already certain that L.I.T. will continue to offer the same number of training positions in 2021, regardless of the Corona-related cancellations of school internships and training fairs.
Due to the current contact restrictions, L.I.T. is dispensing with the usual joint welcome at the headquarters in Brake and is providing the apprentices with their introduction directly at their respective locations. During the first one to two days, the career starters get to know each other, the company, the various business areas and their processes, and visit the individual departments. In addition, there is initial training on the use of IT systems, a seminar on the subject of quality management, and telephone training – all, of course, while observing the required social distancing rules.

Provided the situation allows it, a training week for the entire year group from all twelve locations and all six training professions is planned for spring 2021 at the headquarters in Brake. During this workshop, the apprentices can network and will be trained in presentation techniques, internal and external communication, conflict management, cost and performance accounting, and work and time management. At the end of the week, the apprentices will demonstrate the knowledge they have acquired in a group presentation before the training management and the company board.
As every year, apprentices from the second year of training are taking on a mentorship for their new colleagues. “A contact person who was in the same situation as our apprentices are now not too long ago makes it much easier for young people to start their professional lives,” says Jonat. The junior staff receive generally close support throughout the entire period from the training department and the training officers, with whom they also hold regular feedback meetings. In the case of exceptionally good performance, they are not only offered an internship at one of the L.I.T. locations abroad, but subsequent permanent employment is also as good as guaranteed. Numerous sports offers and events such as joint barbecues or “Kohlfahrten” (kale tours) ensure the necessary cohesion among employees. For this exemplary commitment to junior staff training, the IHK Oldenburg awarded L.I.T. GRUPPE the “TOP Ausbildungsbetrieb” (Top Training Company) quality seal after an extensive examination process.
