L.I.T. AWARDED THE LEAN AND GREEN 1st STAR

By participating in the Lean and Green initiative for green logistics, L.I.T. Speditions GmbH, in cooperation with L.I.T. Cargo GmbH, has successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions in its own logistics processes by 20 percent. With the Lean and Green 1st Star, GS1 Germany confirms the effective implementation of the measures and the successful verification of the greenhouse gas reduction by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH.

With a potpourri of measures, we have achieved our goal of reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector by 20% within five years. To be precise, it is actually 21.3%. One of the biggest efficiency drivers is undoubtedly the expansion of rail transport to almost 2.9 million kilometers per year (6.3%). Other important factors include the reduction of fuel consumption (4.6%), the reduction of empty and detour kilometers (4.5%), and the expansion of the annual mileage of the Ultralight fleet (3.1%). The remaining percentages were achieved through the use of alternative fuels and the use of Euro-Combi trucks.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES TO THE 2nd STAR

To achieve the 2nd Star certification, the fulfillment of various mandatory criteria is required. The content of the first mandatory criterion is the implementation of a cooperation or innovation project with a clear connection to logistics. This must be accompanied by CO2 savings of at least 10% in relation to the respective project scope. As part of the second mandatory criterion, the implementation of a social project is required. Furthermore, a reduction in CO2 emissions by a further 10% must be demonstrated, while simultaneously expanding the scope from 50% to 65%.
