Effective March 2021, B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH has acquired the business operations of the insolvent freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer GmbH & Co. KG. Through this acquisition, the joint venture between the Brake-based L.I.T. Gruppe and the port logistics company J. MÜLLER Weser GmbH & Co. KG not only saves a traditional Bremen company but also expands its own range of services. Bundling resources in raw coffee port logistics with Transport Logistics and Contract Logistics will enable B-LOG to offer all relevant services from a single source in the future. All employees of the freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer will be retained.
»With this joint venture and the acquisition, we are covering the entire spectrum of coffee logistics and pursuing the goal of becoming one of the most important players in the Bremen market,« says Ingo Schreiber, Managing Director of L.I.T. Cargo GmbH and Board Member of L.I.T. AG.
Founded in 1897, the freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer specializes in container transport and electric tipping chassis. In the area of local and long-distance transport, these were recently represented by container or bulk cargo transports. Furthermore, the family business, which was managed in the fifth generation in Bremen, also offered the storage and unloading of overseas containers or palletized goods in an open-air warehouse. »The service spectrum is a 100 percent match for B-LOG and complements our portfolio perfectly. From now on, we will cover all coffee logistics services from a single source,« says Matthias Seidel, Managing Director of B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH.
Due to liquidity difficulties caused by declining sales and payment delays resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer filed for insolvency in December 2020. The current 22-member staff of the freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer will be retained.
