At the beginning of July, our Managing Director of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH, Thimo Schulz, the Mayor of Bassum, Christian Porsch, and the client of our logistics centre in Bassum (LCB), Dr Jan Miller, came together for a joint ground-breaking ceremony. A new L.I.T. warehouse site is to be built on the “Vor dem Karrenbruch” industrial estate, which will create numerous jobs in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“What we are doing here today is a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony. The topsoil is already being removed,” explains Jan Miller. And indeed, the heavy machinery is already at work constructing our new plant in the Bassum industrial estate.<\/p>\n

Commercial and industrial goods are to be stored, packed and repacked in a 20,000 square metre hall complex. Onward transport and distribution will also be handled at the new site. This is expected to create more than 70 new jobs in the commercial and industrial sectors. Around 30 million euros will be invested in the construction. PBB Solutions is responsible for the planning, construction and management of the project. Wieting is responsible for the earthworks and Goldbeck International from Bielefeld is realising the building construction.<\/p>\n

A sustainable building concept<\/strong><\/p>\n

The co-operation between all parties involved has been smooth right from the start. This is particularly evident in the rapid approval and construction process for the project. Only 18 months passed between the initial discussions with Mayor Porsch and the ground-breaking ceremony.<\/p>\n

In addition to the competent support provided by the town of Bassum during the construction of the new site, we are particularly pleased with the sustainable building concept. By installing a photovoltaic system covering around 17,000 square metres on the roof, the facility is to be operated without fossil fuels and 100% sustainably. The aim is to achieve the platinum standard of the German Sustainable Building Council.<\/p>\n

Before the spades were put to work, Mayor Posch also gave a short speech: “We had made it our mission to offer Bassum-based companies opportunities in the industrial estate, as well as newcomers who bring new jobs,” he said. We are delighted about this opportunity to strengthen our regional presence and are eagerly awaiting the opening of the new warehouse and logistics centre.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
