By participating in the Lean and Green Initiative for green logistics, L.I.T. Speditions GmbH in cooperation with L.I.T. Cargo GmbH successfully reduced the greenhouse gas emissions of its own logistics processes by 20 percent. Thanks to a large number of measures, we have achieved our emissions target and reduced our CO2<\/sub> emissions in the transport sector by 20 per cent within five years. To be exact, we even achieved 21.3 per cent. It goes without saying that one of the biggest efficiency drivers is the expansion of rail transport, to reach a volume of almost 2.9 million kilometers per year (6.3 per cent).<\/div>\n

Other important contributing factors were the reduction in fuel consumption (4.6 per cent), the reduction in empty and detour kilometres (4.5 per cent), as well as the expansion of the annual range of the Ultralight fleet (3.1 per cent). The remaining percentages were achieved through the decision to use alternative fuels and Euro-Combi trucks.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In order to achieve the 2nd Star certification, various mandatory criteria are required. The first mandatory criterion is the implementation of a cooperation or innovation project with a clear reference to logistics. As a result, CO2<\/sub> savings of at least 10% based on the respective project scope have to be achieved. The implementation of a social project is required as part of the second mandatory criterion. In addition, a reduction in CO2<\/sub> emissions by a further 10% with a simultaneous expansion of the scope from 50% to 65% must be proven.<\/p>
