L.I.T. AG RECEIVES SEAL OF QUALITY FROM THE LOWER SAXONY ALLIANCE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

AWARD PRESENTED FOR FIVE YEARS

Torben Kokott (r.) from the Oldenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce presents the »We’re in.« seal of quality from the Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability to L.I.T. Executive Board Member Simeon Breuer.

Award for years of commitment to the environment: L.I.T. AG has received the quality label of the Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability. With this award, the association of business and politics honours the projects undertaken by the Brake-based company in the areas of ecological, social and economic sustainability. The certificate is valid for five years and continues L.I.T.’s green logistics strategy. A year ago, the transport service provider was already awarded the Lean & Green 1st Star for reducing its greenhouse gas emissions.

»For us, ‘sustainability’ is not just a buzzword that is trendy at the moment. It is a matter of the heart. We are therefore very proud that our efforts have been recognised by the Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability«, says a delighted Simeon Breuer, executive of L.I.T. AG. The cooperation between the Lower Saxony state government, business associations, trade unions and chambers evaluates the areas of ecological, social and economic sustainability of companies when awarding the seal of quality. Torben Kokott, Environment and Energy Officer at the Oldenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which is part of the alliance, knows: »Companies that operate sustainably are more successful in the long run, have satisfied employees and a better image.« At the beginning of July, he presented the certificate to L.I.T. with the wording »We’re in.«. The logistics service provider from Brake is now part of the Lower Saxony sustainability alliance for the next five years.
The L.I.T. Group has been pursuing a sustainability strategy for years. For example, L.I.T. Speditions GmbH and L.I.T. Cargo GmbH have already been awarded the Lean & Green 1st Star in 2020 for reducing their ecological footprint. With the conversion of part of the vehicle fleet to ultra-light vehicles, a specially programmed app to reduce empty and detour kilometres, and innovative intermodal concepts, the two subsidiaries have even exceeded the campaign target of 20 per cent less CO2 emissions within five years by 1.7 per cent. Solar panels on the company roofs, a certified environmental management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1400 UM and a meadow orchard in the Wesermarsch district also contribute to environmental protection at L.I.T. AG.
»Of course, our measures do not stop with the new seal of quality from the Lower Saxony Alliance for Sustainability. Now we have to develop and initiate further sustainability projects that, in addition to a social aspect, contribute further to CO2 savings,« says Simeon Breuer. In order to achieve this goal, the corporate group relies on collaborative cooperation across all its divisions and has established a sustainability working group.
